During the past few weeks we have seen members of the Democratic
party use various tactics to delay and disrupt the agenda of the
Trump administration.
From street protests, college campuses and even in the committee
rooms and floor of the House of Representatives and Senate, the
Democratic Party and its progressive wing has engaged in tactics of
delay, obstructionism, and violation of the free speech amendment of
the Constitution.
At the conclusion of the last election cycle in November 2016 the
Democratic Party saw a loss of over 1000 seats in the Senate
and House of Representatives and various state legislatures.
Based
upon the polling data and their expectations, the election loss was a totally
unthinkable result to the hierarchy of the Democratic party and many
in the main-stream news media. In
fact, some might characterize the loss as a complete repudiation of
the principles of the Democratic Party and the Obama administration.
With both the executive and legislative branches In the hands of
the Republican party, the ability of Democrats to influence
legislation could be difficult.
Hence, the leadership the Democratic Party has adopted a policy of
delay, obstructionism and encouragement of disruptive tactics
by their supporters.
As a result six weeks following the inauguration of Pres. Trump,
many of his nominees to cabinet and sub-cabinet positions have not
been confirmed.
While these measures play well with the progressive base,
the tactics run the risk of alienating many moderates in the
Democratic Party as well as independents.
As Pres. Trump continues to move forward on his campaign promises
but continues to be thwarted by the Democratic leadership's efforts
which only serve to delay Trump's agenda the Democratic Party runs
the risk of being left only with its left progressive base and a
sizable portion of its moderate base moving to the center or into
the Republican party.
Despite the efforts of the Democratic Party to delay, Pres. Trump
continues to move ahead and implement many of his campaign promises.
The United States of America is a constitutional republic!
In the last election Pres. Trump obtained 306 electoral votes
versus 232 for the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. While the
popular vote showed Hillary Clinton getting more votes than Donald
Trump, in a constitutional republic it is only the electoral votes
that count.
While there is an effort primarily by the progressive movement to
elect the president by the popular vote count, it would appear that
it has only a limited chance of passing as it would place the
election in the hands of about 20 counties in the United States with
large Democratic majorities.
Wearing Thin ...
During the past two months the increasing level of divide between
the progressive movement and the rest of the United States continues
to grow. The willingness to hold meaningful dialogue has been
reduced to almost nothing.
Freedom of speech is a pillar of our Constitution but has been
subverted within many of those institutions dominated by
progressives like universities and newspapers. The riots at
University of California - Berkley and Middlebury College are just
the tip of the iceberg.
As a result, we are beginning to see pushback by many of the
conservative base.
As the progressives embodied within the Democratic party continue
their efforts to disrupt the Trump administration, the risk of a
major clash escalates.
The End-Game Risk
Many moderate and conservatives of both parties are
becoming tired of the obstruction and seditiousness efforts largely
funded by groups with links to George Soros.
As a result, if a major clash occurs resulting in death and
destruction, look for the moderates and conservatives to band
together leaving the progressive left a major problem in future
elections.
As it is the moderates and conservatives who have provided much
of the endowments for universities and foundations, look for tenure
and changes in the administration and faculty of many of the leftish
leaning institutions to be subject to major changes. As technology
brings the classroom right to the computer, the rules of the
education complex will change dramatically.
As the college campus becomes superfluous and knowledge can be
found off-campus, the education system that indoctrinates young
students could find itself no longer required.
Conclusion
Frustration over losing a election that was considered in the bag
has the progressives unable to accept the reality of the Trump
victory.
Continued efforts to frustrate the Trump agenda will risk increasing
the possibility of a major confrontation between progressive
agitators and moderate and conservative voters.
At some point, law enforcement will be required to intervene on a
major scale which could result in the loss of life similar to the
Kent State confrontation during the Vietnam war.
If that happens, look for the moderate and conservative groups to
band together against the progressives and become the dominant
political force in the United States.
